Along with people, thousands of animals are in desperate need of food, water and medical attention.
Humane Society International’s Animal Rescue Team has been deployed to Kathmandu, Nepal on Thursday 30th April to offer emergency animal welfare aid following the devastating 7.9 magnitude earthquake.
They have prepared emergency veterinary medicines, vaccinations, surgical equipment and other supplies, so that HSI's team of specialist vets and disaster relief experts can assist local animal welfare groups on the ground in the strike zone.
Rahul Segal, director of HSI Asia, said: “When a disaster of this magnitude strikes, people and animals living in the same community all fall victim to the devastating consequences. Many thousands of animals will likely be badly affected by the earthquake, alongside their human companions and owners. Family pets, street dogs and livestock are likely to have been killed, injured, lost or abandoned. We anticipate animals suffering starvation, dehydration, and exposure in the coming weeks.
You can help! Please, donate to their International Disaster Relief Fund.
Donations are urgently needed to support our life-saving efforts in Nepal and wherever animals and humans are affected by disaster.
We at SKF and MYO completely trust HSI and PETA is supporting them too.
